Niagra Falls in our kitchen

I know for many, this may seem like a small thing, but we are very pleased with getting a nice new shiny kitchen faucet/tap. Last week we had a major blow-out on our faucet and enough water to have a Niagra Falls in our kitchen. Of course, it was not helped by the fact that I could not shut-off our mains water supply, because their was a board in the way for allowing the lever to shut-off. As you might imagine, I was a drenched chaotic mess!

Thankfully, Rob was able to contact our neighbours Rob and Toon. Rob was able to get the mains shut-off (thanks Rob!), which was great for stopping the flood! Toon is a pensioned plumber and was able to fix the mains lever shut-off, but said that we needed a new faucet. He agreed to install it once we got it (thanks Toon!).

Like everything, we have some needs that always make what should be an easy decision more difficult. After researching enough to know what was possible, it was a matter of budget. I did not know that people could spend that much money on a faucet.

Anyway, I thought I found one that would work great, with only the features we needed, but also solid (good German make). After much searching, I was able to find an older model that came in on budget at the same cost as new models with less features. The pull-out spout is very cool, and assuming that it does not break, both Rob and I give it a top rating.

Here are the results, which we are very pleased with, along with the quality assurance committee who I was earlier tripping over trying to stop the flood:
