Homemade Hot Cocoa Mix

Ingredients

  • 400 gram powdered milk (1 can of TwoCows)
  • 250 gram powdered sugar ( 1 container Van Gilse)
  • 125-150 gram Dutch-processed cocoa (about 1/2 a box of Blooker cacao)
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons corn starch
  • Optional: 25ml – 50ml dark or spiced rum.
  • Optional: To make it like the Aztecs, add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
  • Optional: You can also add finely chopped dark chocolate.
  • Optional: for the kids, add mini marshmallows.

Instructions

  1. Add all the ingredients to a large bowl and using a wire whisk to combine.
  2. Store in an air-tight container. it will keep for many months.
  3. When ready to use, add 2 to 3 tablespoons of hot cocoa mix to 350 ml of boiling water. Add more mix to taste. Stir well to combine.
  4. If using, add dark or spiced rum, cayenne pepper, finely chopped dark chocolate and mini marshmallows.

Make 1400 ml in total.
