Rob’s 50th Birthday (extended)

Rob’s birthday on 1 May has been a series of small celebrations throughout the month. Today his assistant and friend Debby and her husband Richard came by with their kids to give him a very kind gift of one of his favourite meals — Surinamese roti. I got to enjoy too, which was a special treat.

It was such a kind and thoughtful gift, and really made him smile. Rob had a hard week because of a bad fall that caused a lot of pain. This kind and friendly gift helped a lot to boost his spirits.

We are so grateful to friends like Debby and Richard, Al, Remco, Barb, Charlie, Joyce, Marion, and others that came to help us celebrate Rob’s 50th birthday, and share in our lives. We are especially grateful that Rob had the chance to celebrate with his father Ger.

It’s not the big things that matter, it’s all the heartfelt kindness and sharing that is the most important. Thanks everyone for making this a really special birthday for Rob. And also for all of the nice greetings and phone calls with everyone abroad.

You may see another post “Rob’s 50th Birthday (extended part 2)”  because we have a few more friends visiting in early June to celebrate. For those of you who we have not yet been able to celebrate with, lets do it soon. We’re really looking forward to keeping up the fun. I vote that Rob get’s to celebrate his birthday day once a week all year long Ad infinitum!
