I’ve been looking for something that Rob can use to keep warm after he takes a shower and also that covers him up a bit while sitting. We have tried robes, but they are difficult to put on, and if you only put one arm through they don’t cover-up enough. He only wears it for a little while before dressing, and we wanted to keep it easy.

They make something similar for kids, but I could not find one for adults that was not expensive, and more than he needed, like surfers poncho’s.

I bought two cheap lightweight fleece blankets 130×160 cm (51 x 63 in) and cut a whole out for his head. You can also buy the fabric, but at $5 each, it was cheaper to just buy the blanket.

All you need to do is fold it in half and use a plate to make a template for the head hole. The first one I did I used a  large plate 28 cm (11 in). It’s amazing how much this stuff stretches, and after we tried it realised that the head hole was way too big, but it will still work. I made another one with a small plate 19 cm (7.5 in), and it is much better.

Here are some photo’s. In total, it took about 10 minutes to make both of them. And of course, it helped to have a good quality control team with Jansen and Jane the dogs.

Notes:

Fabric is in widths of 150 cm NL and 59 in US (150 cm). For length, 2 meter (78 in) 72 in / 2 yards (182.cm) should be more than enough. Sold by the 1/2 meter in NL and by the yard US.
